NVidia Tablet Best in Show

NVidia showcased a few new Android tablets powered by Tegra 3 at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). These devices come in different form factors and price points to address the needs of various users.

According to the press release, Acer Iconia Tab A510 Android tablet is the successor to the Tab A500, and it sports the same 10.1-inch, 1280x800 display. But, the Iconia Tab A510 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), which has been slightly customized by Acer to include a circular launcher. The front of the tablet features a 2Mpx camera, and there's a 5Mpx camera on the back.

The Asus Transformer Prime TF201 tablet can convert between slate-only mode and laptop mode. Thus, users can take full advantage of the 10.1-inch, 1280x800 Super IPS+ display, 8Mpx camera, and microSD card reader – all in a slim 8.3mm body.

And, the 7-inch Asus Eee Pad MeMO ME370T – powered by the Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor and running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – received the CNET "Best of CES 2012" award in the Tablets category. It's priced at US$ 249.

Lenovo Showcases New IdeaPads

Lenovo announced a long list of new consumer laptops and desktops at CES 2012. The new laptops in the IdeaPad U Series, Y Series, S Series, and Z Series provide a range of styles, colors, and performance.

The U series features IdeaPad U310 and U410, two "ultra" laptops, powered by the Intel Core processor family. These thin and light performance laptops include Ultrabook versions with 64GB SSD drives for caching data and versions with up to 500GB of HDD storage.

The IdeaPad S200 and S206 are lightweight and superthin. They come with a large 11.6-inch HD widescreen, are just 0.81 inches thick, and weigh 2.8 pounds. The S200 comes with an Intel Atom dual-core processor and up to 32GB of SSD3 storage, whereas the S206 features an AMD dual-core processor.

The Y series models, IdeaPad Y480 and Y580, are designed for high performance with NVidia GeForce GTX660M 2GB GDDR5 graphics. They feature 14- and 15-inch full HD displays and are powered by Intel Core processors.

According to company, the Z series laptops are ideal for multimedia tasks and are available in colors that include Amber Orange, Apple Green, Cherry Red, Coral Blue, Graphite Grey, and Peony Pink. Iomega Announces EZ Media

Iomega Corporation recently announced the new Iomega StorCenter ix2 Network Storage, an advanced two-bay desktop network storage device. The ix2 is available in multiple configurations and designed specifically for content sharing and data protection, as well as cloud computing and video surveillance applications.

According to the announcement, the Iomega StorCenter ix2, which is based on enterprise-class EMC storage technology, provides up to 6TB of network storage for small and medium-sized business networks and distributed or remote locations utilizing PC, Mac, and Linux computers.

The new two-bay Iomega StorCenter ix2 Network Storage comes in three different models: a diskless unit that lets users populate the device according to their specific storage needs; a partially populated unit with one drive (1, 2, or 3TB of total storage capacity); and a fully populated unit with two drives (2, 4, or 6TB of total storage capacity) for immediate RAID mirroring data protection and other multidrive network storage capabilities.

All of the new Iomega StorCenter ix2 Network Storage models are expected to be available worldwide starting in February 2012.
