Azaleos Announces MDM Service

Azaleos Corporation has announced the new Azaleos Mobile Device Management (MDM) service to help enterprises centrally secure and control all leading mobile devices, including employee-owned smartphones and tablets.

This cloud-based service, which is offered in both private and public cloud options, addresses the security, compliance, and cost challenges of managing mobile devices. The Azaleos Managed MDM service is based on technology from MDM provider AirWatch and provides proactive 24/7 monitoring and management of company-issued and employee-owned mobile devices.

The cost and complexity of managed mobile devices is being compounded by the growing number of devices supplied and owned by users – also known as "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD). The announcement states, "This phenomenon is forcing IT to support a wide array of mobile hardware platforms and operating systems – and stretching resources to their limit. In fact, full-time employee staff required to manage smartphone users, which was 2.9 per 1,000 smartphone users in 2011, is expected to climb to 4.0 in 2013."

The Azaleos Managed MDM service provides device security management for lost, non-compliant, offline, and jail-broken devices, as well as data leakage protection for sensitive corporate information. It provides AirWatch MDM server architecture activation, configuration, monitoring, management, tuning, and service interruption detection. The service also provides continuous monitoring by Azaleos experts for all leading device platforms, including iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone.

The Azaleos Managed MDM Service is available now. Pricing starts at US$ 5 per user/month. For more information, see: http://www.azaleos.com/.

Sophos Releases UTM 9

Sophos has announced Sophos UTM 9, the first UTM specifically designed to integrate gateway security and endpoint security in a single hardware or virtual box. According to the company, Sophos UTM 9 provides complete security protection, regardless of location. It combines endpoint protection and unified threat management solutions into a single management console.

Sophos's approach to endpoint protection uses its LiveConnect cloud service; thus, users can always manage all of their endpoints, no matter where they are or how they're connected. Computers are kept up to date with antivirus protection and new policies that can be rolled out at any time.

UTM 9 enables secure remote application access without installing any software on the desktop. The HTML5 VPN portal lets users connect to internal resources regardless of location or device. Sophos UTM also manages Internet access for guests and visitors with customizable wireless hotspots. It scans email and web traffic with Sophos's antivirus technology, as well as a second commercial engine (from Avira). Sophos scans viruses, spyware, worms, trojans, and adware in single scan, and protects against zero-day attacks.
